A 1911 settlement with a postwar village identity
Danish-American settlers founded Solvang in 1911 beside Old Mission Santa Inés, which dates to 1804. The windmills and half-timbered storefronts visitors recognize today grew from a Danish-village redesign that began in 1946. Museums, bakeries, tasting rooms, and the wider Santa Ynez Valley now fit comfortably into a two-night stay.
